wonder what we did at Taiwan today ?? (;
today, being our first day in Taipei, Taiwan, we were all really excited !! for me, I was kind of nervous and yet excited at the same time. however, all the butterflies in my stomach were gone by the time i reached changi airport and i really had a lot of fun today.
firstly, i managed to be independent and realised that i could rely on myself to get things done. this is somehow an achievement for me because when i went overseas previously, my parents always did every thing for me. after this experience, I realised that i am able to do things on my own, and thus i think that i am more confident of taking care of myself now and will also be more independent from now on :D i think that this is a great opportunity for me to learn to be responsible.
after we landed in Taipei, we went to Taipei 101. throughout the whole bus journey, i saw a few interesting things about Taipei and learnt more about this city. one of the the facts i have noticed is that some parts in Taipei ((the more rural areas)) have a lot of land, that is untouched. i feel that this shows a vast difference between Singapore and Taipei. Taipei has so much land that there is still excess land that is not used for anything. as for Singapore, we are such a land-scarce nation that we have to build a lot of buildings upwards or downwards.
at Taipei 101, we also saw the beautiful night view of Taipei from the 89 stories tall building.
when we reached the 88th story, visitors were given a device that is something like a phone. we are supposed to dial in the number of the different directions and listen to the facts of the places of interest in that direction. although I feel that this initiative is really creative, but there could have been some improvements. instead of a phone, they should give us sel thing like an iPad so that when we key in the number, we can watch a video or look at pictures while listening to the narration instead of just being able to listen to facts. only listening to facts is very boring as there is no interaction at all and thus it would not be memorable and people would forget the facts quickly. thus this is one improvement I think they could make ((just a suggestion !!))
also, during dinner time, we went to a restaurant and i really liked the waitress/waiter's good attitude when serving us !!
when we requested for spoons, the waitress smiled and quickly went to get them before handing them to us in a short period of time. also, when we stand up, they would automatically ask us if we need anything and help us in anyway possible. in my opinion, the waitresses/waiters were really kind and i feel that all should be like them. in a way, Singaporeans are more unlikely to help others because of the fact that we are living in a fast paced life. thus, we ignore the fact that people needs help, and we don't take pride in helping them out. however, after this experience with the Taiwanese waiters/waitresses, i feel guilty that i do not usually help others out and even if i do so, i would be doing it just for the sake of doing so. i reflected and thought that it would be good if for a change, i start helping people willingly, and treat everyone nicely. i hope i will be able to do these !!(:
on a side note, im really excited for tomorrow's itinery, especially since we are going to release sky lanterns in shifen !!! wait for what i'm going to post about my 'adventure' tomorrow, alright ?? 💕
